London, MEFD – Middle East Forum for Development has organised a panel event titled ‘The persecution of religious and ethnic minorities in Iran’, which will be held on Monday 27th February, 5:30 pm, in the House of Commons. The event is co-sponsored by the All-Party Parliamentary Human Rights Group (PHRG) and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Religion or Belief and will be chaired by Dr Matthew Offord MP. London, Middle East Monitor – A major international human rights organisation has accused Iran today of “boasting of mass killing” after the Iranian regime repeatedly broadcast the mass execution of 25 Sunni Kurdish-Iranian men that occurred last August.

Amnesty International said that the Iranian authorities were “broadcasting injustice” after they put the Kurdish men to death, and forced them to participate in “confession” videos that Amnesty says was designed to “dehumanise” the men. (more…)

executionLondon, MEFD – 36 year-old Rashid Kouhi was hanged in prison in the morning of 9th April 2016, in Rasht, the capital city of Iran’s Gilan province, despite international outcry to halt his execution. Rashid Kouhi was arrested in August 2011 at a checkpoint in Roudbar, Gilan, after Iranian authorities stopped him and searched his bag where they reportedly found 800 grams of crystal meth. (more…)

10469745_10203649368016947_3763586105795985896_nLondon, MEFD – Six Sunni prisoners from Iran’s Kurdish minority were executed in Rajai Shahr Prison in the city of Karaj this morning. Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that Hamed Ahmadi, Kamal Molai, Jamshid Dehghani, Jahangir Dehghani, Sedgh Mohammadi and Seyed Hadi Hosseini were executed at 4am this morning.

One of the relatives of Hamed Ahmadi told HRANA, “An ambulance left the prison at 5am and all the families rushed towards it. We couldn’t see the bodies but we were told that all 6 prisoners have been hanged and that we can collect the bodies at Bibi Sakine cemetery”.

The six men, who were sentenced to death by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran for “enmity against god” (moharebeh) following grossly unfair trials, were not spared by the Iranian authorities despite calls from international (more…)

ReyhanehWe have been informed that the Iranian authorities have executed Reyhaneh Jabbari in the city of Karaj this morning. Ms Jabbari’s mother, Shole Pakravan, confirmed her death to BBC Persian. According to The Independent newspaper, Ms Pakravan told BBC Persian that her 26-year-old daughter was hanged in a Tehran prison and that she was due to see her daughter’s body at the cemetery today. Gholamreza Khosravi Savadjani

We have been informed that Gholamreza Khosravi Savadjani has been executed by the Iranian authorities this morning in Rajai Shahr prison in the city of Karaj following an unfair trial on the charge of “enmity against God” (moharebeh) for being a supporter of the banned Iranian opposition group, People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI).

Gholamreza Khosravi was a political prisoner who spent 40 months in solitary confinement in various detention centres following his arrest in 2007 in the city of Kerman. During his detention he refused to “confess” to charges laid against him and was tortured and ill-treated as a result of this. Gholamreza Khosravi was among the prisoners of ward 350 of Tehran’s Evin prison who were brutally raided and beaten on 17th April by the regime’s forces. (more…)

Middle East Forum for Development condemns in the strongest terms the execution of Hashem Shaabani, an Iranian poet and teacher from Iran’s Ahwazi Arab minority. Shaabani was sentenced to death following a grossly unfair trial in July 2013 by Branch Two of the Ahwaz Revolutionary Court along with fourteen others on charges of “enmity against God” and for forming a “threat” to national security.
