London, MEFD – At a time when major protests rage in scores of cities in Iran against dire economic conditions, the government’s foreign military interventions and repressive policies at home, and the Islamic Republic’s persistent engagement in planning and executing acts of terrorism in EU member states, it is extremely regrettable to witness Nathalie Tocci, Special Adviser to EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, conducting an interview with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard affiliated Tasnim news agency, in which she effectively propagates and justifies the positions of the Iranian regime. London, MEFD – Middle East Forum for Development (MEFD) was represented at a panel event in the House of Commons on Monday, which it co-organised with the All-Party Parliamentary Human Rights Group (PHRG) and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Freedom of Religion. The event, chaired by Sir David Amess MP, was titled ‘The persecution of ethnic and religious minorities in Iran’ and was attended by a number of notable attendees from across a wide spectrum. atena-daemiLondon, MEFD – According to Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), 29-year-old Iranian civil rights activist Atena Daemi was violently arrested on the morning of 26 November at her father’s residence by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and subjected to threats. Ms Daemi was subsequently transferred by the IRGC to Evin prison in order to serve a 7 year prison sentence. (more…)
